I Have This Thing With Hallmark

7.7.22 Post Featured Image showing the Hallmark movie poster for each of The Wedding Veil trilogy movies.

I love Hallmark movies and I’m not ashamed to admit it!

They get a bad rap, and if you’re not into them that’s totally fine. They’re obviously not Academy Award winning cinema, but they still have their place.

Maybe it’s because of the Christmas movies that they’re known for, but now they give me that cozy, warm feeling all year long. You know exactly what to expect, and you know there will be a happily ever after at the end. There’s a comfort in that. Especially if other things in your life, or the world, seem out of control. Just think of Hallmark movies as comfort food.

Are some of them reeeeeally bad? Sure.

Are most of them just okay? Yeah.

Are some of them unexpected masterpieces that you now have to watch at least once a year? Yeeeees!

To find the good ones though, you have to sit through a lot of not-good ones, but I think that’s fun. So fun that I started posting mini reviews to my Instagram stories to let friends know what was worth watching. You can see 2020 here, and 2021 here.

I ended up loving it, and got feedback from multiple friends that they found my reviews helpful, so last year I created a dedicated IG account for them: @ihavethisthingwithhallmark

However, I should not have started a review account just before Countdown to Christmas, because there was no way I could keep up. It’s basically the Hallmark Olympics where they air 30+ movies in two months. I need to start training for this year asap.

I’m currently very behind on this year’s movies, and haven’t watched one since April, and even then I only saw 2 of the 5 Spring into Love 2022 movies. I wasn’t going to go back and catch up on the last three months, but then I saw Dara’s top 10 favorites of 2022 and it sounds like I may need to go find a few of those. I’ll let you know what I watch!

Are you a Hallmark fan? Comment with your favorite Hallmark movie! My answer changes depending on my mood, but if I had to answer right now I’d say Love, of Course from Fall Harvest 2018. One of the best almost-kiss scenes in Hallmark history. Let me know if you’ve seen it!

PS – If you’re wondering about The Wedding Veil trilogy, I LOVED IT! The whole concept was so much fun and I hope they do more like that.
